Salt Lake City—City Academy’s IT Director and Chief Data Security Officer Bruce Hunter has been named the Charter School Employee of the Month for January 2019 by the Utah State Charter School Board.
Hunter was presented with a certificate and a $25 Amazon gift card at the Charter Directors meeting on Jan. 14 at the Utah State Board of Education offices. The State Charter School Board described Bruce’s nomination as clearly rising to the top among those they reviewed this month not only for his dedication and quality work in his position, but also for going above and beyond with his engagement with students and the school
In her nomination of Hunter for this recognition, City Academy Executive Director Dr. Sonia Woodbury wrote, “Bruce serves as City Academy’s IT director and Chief Data Security officer. At many other schools, these are actually two full-time jobs, but Bruce handles both areas with ease. In spite of the fact that these two job duties are really all that were originally expected of Bruce, it’s a testament to his character that he’s taken on much more, and through his actions and caring attitude, he’s had a huge impact on the lives of many students over the years.”
Woodbury added that Hunter also serves as the adult leader of the Yearbook Committee, mentors a student through City Academy’s Service Learning program, and is the online testing coordinator and main online proctor for City Academy.
