CITY ACADEMY’S RAM PRASAD BOPPANA NAMED BUSINESS MANAGER OF THE YEAR BY THE UTAH ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOLS

July 14, 2019

Salt Lake City—The Utah Association of Public Charter Schools has recognized City Academy’s Ram Prasad Boppana as Business Manager of the Year. Boppana was given the award at the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools’ 13th Annual Charter School Conference held June 12 and 13 at the Davis Conference Center.

Even though Boppana was nominated for the honor by City Academy Executive Director Sonia Woodbury, it should be noted that he serves as business manager for three Utah charter schools: City Academy (since 2003), Beehive Science and Technology Academy (since 2011) and Utah International Charter School (since 2013). From 2008 to 2010, he oversaw finance and operations for the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools.

In her nomination submitted for the award, Woodbury wrote, “As executive director of City Academy, I can tell you that Prasad is THE leading authority on finance for charter schools in Utah. Other charter schools often call upon Prasad for advice. In my opinion, his work largely goes unnoticed because he is so thorough and professional in everything he does. As a result, we never encounter problems related to all the regulations, reporting and additional requirements that are part of Prasad’s everyday work. Because of this, my peers and I are given the freedom to concentrate on the day-to-day operations and long-term planning for our schools and our students.”
